Decorating for the holidays one of my favorite things. It doesn’t matter how old I get I love pulling out the ornaments and reliving the memories of all of our holiday treasures. We decorate the Sunday after Thanksgiving in our house. We used to wait until after my son’s birthday (Dec. 8th!) but he started to beg to “do the tree!” so we do it now before his birthday…December birthdays are tough!
We have to check the lights. Every year I swear they work when we put them away but for some reason we always have light issues. ALWAYS. That and I can never find my box of ornament hooks… where did I put them???
We don’t go all out at our house. In the back of my mind I am always thinking…” I am going to have to put this away!” So we keep our holiday decorating mainly in our living room and dining room. I do like going to houses where even the bathroom hand towels and guest room pillow are changed out for the holiday though. Maybe one day… but for now… what we do it great.
Like many of your it is crazy at house when the decorating happens. Christmas music is blaring and red and green totes are being hauled up from the basement. Everyone wants to find their favorite ornaments and since my youngest is seven the lower part of the tree is highly concentrated with pictures of her! We often her an “oops” as an ornament hit the ground. I blame the “no shatter” ornaments that look so real. My kids just assume my real glass ones can bounce as well.
This year I went out to our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Farm in the front of our property and cut down this sweet sweet tree. My son came home (yes..the one that used to beg, but now he is almost 12 and getting too cool) and was like, “cool..that tree seems good enough. No reason to get everything out if we are just going to put it back in a month.”…WHAT! oh well… we all still did! i love in the picture below that the “J” fell down and it just says “YO”..haha.
I love my living room in the winter time. My husband makes warm fires and often we read or play board games. We typically would have had a fire this past weekend but it was almost 70 degrees here… crazy. I shouldn’t complain when we are blessed with beautiful weather. I hope your family enjoys decorating as much as we do.
