We had our very first “Makers Event” and it was wonderful! Our hope is to host monthly makers events where women can come together and make stuff! There’s something soooo satisfying about finishing a project and working with your hands! A lot of us are deep in the trenches of motherhood and a little time away feels like a vacation! We can laugh, talk, and make some really fun things! This is also a really fun thing to do with an older child. Next month we are doing a macrame class, look for that date soon!

Let’s talk about soap… and let me just say… my bathroom at home smells amazing because of the “Instant Gratification Hot Process Soap” Becky made during the class. All of us attending got to make a honey and oatmeal scrub cold process soap… and after it cures (it takes 3-6 weeks to cure!) we will each have 5-6 bars of soap!

The process is really interesting, and if you haven’t worked with lye before it can make you a little nervous! We all wore proper safety wear including goggles and rubber gloves. It honestly looked like a room full of scientists. 🙂 Hopefully we can have this class again next year. I’m super excited to make more of Becky’s recipes. I really need to get Charlotte into it… maybe she can pay for college with some honey, soap, and lotion! She loves making slime (don’t they all??) so maybe I can get her to switch to lotion! Ha!

Here are a few pictures I took! I hope you can join us for our next class!
