” ….And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Ester 4:14b
I’ll admit it, I have let self doubt and feelings of inadequacies creep in and take hold way to often… Lately, I have had to verbally tell them to take a hike, like out loud. LOL
Maybe this is strange…. I don’t just yell at these lies in public, it’s usually when I am alone. So why do I feel inadequate? What’s going on here? ‘ll tell ya…. Kim and I have been busy getting ready for a film crew and director from NYC to take video of little ol’ us. Zeiss camera lenses likes our philosophy, our teaching style, and the way we work together. They don’t care that we are professional photographers, and also “mom’s with a camera”, in fact, they like the fact that we are just that! Regular gals with a desire to find beauty in everyone, and share it! They like the fact that we teach others the art of photography. We aren’t world famous, we are just “Amy & Kim” with The Wild Child Photography. It’s been a whirlwind the last few days, but the hard parts are mostly over. Tonight we are teaching a kids class and the crew will be there, but after that, we are done! You know what though, we are “good enough” and more that that even… chosen at just the right time for this assignment. After yesterday, the doubt was gone. I felt confident sharing my story and the story of The Wild Child Photography. Because you know what? The doubt and lies did take a hike. Average people like us (you and ), CAN make a difference in the world, and are perfectly equipped to share our stories.
To be honest I didn’t have a clue what was involved in a production like this! (See our Wild Child insta-stories for some behind the scenes clips- @thewildchildphotography) It’s been so interesting and just amazing to see everything behind the scenes! I have to give major props to our families for going along with the crazy day so graciously, and also the families we’ve photographed and the kids coming to this class. Every single person has been amazing!
So maybe we are just a small business in north east Kansas, but here we are, and maybe we were chosen for “such a time as this”, and maybe, just maybe we will inspire others to join in, learn, and find the beauty we have through the lens of a camera. One of our favorite quotes is one by a depression era photographer named, Dorthea Lange “The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” Regular folks, like you and I can find and create art where ever we are. That’s a message we love to share, and no matter the size of our audience, we hope that you are inspired!
